6 Reasons to do (or at least try) our At-home Workouts!

We have experienced exceptional times and sometimes out of adversity comes better things. Prior to the Covid-19 pandemic we "only" had our workout in the gym!

It's a great workout, it works all the major muscle groups, you warm up, do Strength Training on the machines, keep moving to work your heart, cool down and do stretches.

However, we had to adapt and overcome the restrictions placed on us to keep everyone safe and so we started to offer the Curves workout in an At-home version.

Everyone loved it! And so it stayed!

It’s a fantastic alternative to those times you can’t get to us. It means we come to you! For some members, it means they've done more workouts than ever before because they can access these workouts ANY TIME to suit them.

It's still Coach led, it still features Strength Training (using body weight, small hand weights if you have them, tins of beans will do and sometimes we use resistance bands), we still work in your training zone for cardio vascular fitness, we still warm up and cool down and we still stretch.

We release new workout videos every few months and share them in our member’s only Facebook group. If you can’t get to the gym because of childcare issues, get the family involved! It sets them a great example and can be loads of fun.

We know you didn’t join a gym so you can do workouts at home! We are all here because we need or want to be coming into the gym, seeing people, benefitting from the support of the Coaches and using the equipment.

The pandemic taught us all a lot of things and one of the things we learned was just how good our machines are. There isn’t an at-home workout that is as good as coming to the gym. However, they are infinitely better than nothing and since reopening, they have found their place in our world, even for members who have joined since.

We know that sometimes it can be hard to movtiate yourself to workout at home so Caoch Sall and Coach Dannii recorded a podcast episode on it to inspire you (it’s our most listened to episode ever!). You can listen to that here.

Six reasons you should give them a go;

  1. They are super convenient – when you are really busy, you can do a workout at home at any time to suit you. You can energise yourself with an early morning, or wind down with one of our Stretch & Balance sessions before bed.

  2. They’re fun – we’ve done some cracking themed workouts that we still talk about on the circuit, such as “1000 rep challenge” and “pillow fight”. We have workouts that are suitable for the family to join in and these work great during the school holidays or when you’re away if you want to keep your new, shiny (and maybe unsecure) workout habit going.

  3. They improve your technique – without the support of the machines you will need excellent technique. This will help you focus, use your core stability muscles correctly and increase your body awareness. You will find your balance improves too.

  4. They’re a bonus – not only do they work great when life is hectic, they’re also a bonus workout. Doing an extra work out to the ones you planned will increase your sense of achievement and encourage you into the gym more. We have a sneaky additional Stretch & Balance workout we release on a Sunday which is a lovely way to move your body on your rest day too!

  5. They count! While you can’t scan in if you’re not in the building we’ve built a system that allows you to log your at-home workouts and we will then enter them in for you at the gym. For this we use the Bookyway app. Next time you scan in you can make sure it got added by checking the little calendar that pops up (please note At-home workouts get added once a week on a Saturday!)

  6. They can be low impact – we have a range of At-home workouts including seated ones, and a whole program of Strengthening ones. If you find you have been side-lined through injury or illness they are a great way to get or keep your body moving (always good) and ease you back to the gym.
