How to move better, for longer

Coach Sophie

Right ladies, you have probably heard us reminding you to do your stretches and how important they are.

THIS IS WHY:

Research has shown that stretching increases the benefits of your Strength Training by up to 20%!

Stretching keeps the muscles flexible, strong, and healthy, and we need that flexibility to maintain a range of motion in the joints. Without it, the muscles shorten and become tight. Then, when you call on the muscles for activity, they are weak and unable to extend all the way. That puts you at risk for joint pain, strains, and muscle damage.

Stretching improves blood circulation which increases the supply of nutrients to the muscles and the removal of waste products, resulting in less muscle soreness.

Daily stretches are a great way to find time for yourself where you can enhance your mental state, reduce stress, and release any tension.

Our on-line Stretch and Balance sessions* are a GREAT way to unwind and move your body. You could also work through your Curves stretches (make sure you warm up first, for example gentle jogging on the spot, or do them after a walk, housework, or gardening). They only take 5 minutes so great if you are really pressed for time. Remember to hold each stretch for 15 seconds or hold for 7 and then deepen the stretch for the remaining 15, a great way to see your progress!

Just remember it takes time for your body to adjust, therefore take your time, enjoy the moment, learn what your body can do and appreciate your progress.
