You want to be ready… right?

Coach Sall

When I was walking through town today, I spotted one of our members skipping along the pavement, holding hands with her children, laughing merrily, and it reminded me, THAT is why I do what I do. It's what our mission of Strengthening Women is all about.

We have been told so many things about why exercise is important. We’ve mostly been taught to believe it’s about as fun and enjoyable as… well, something not remotely fun OR enjoyable.

We’ve been raised on such myths as “no pain no gain”, “weight loss is simple you just need to eat less and move more”, and that if you’ve eaten certain foods then you need to “work it off”.

Some of you have had horrendous experiences at the hands of PE teachers, your peers at school, or by visiting gyms, that have put you off exercise for life.

What about the joy that exercise gives you? Where has that been our whole lives?

Why have we not been taught that by looking after our physical health, we get to enjoy excellent mental health?

Taking regular exercise allows us to take part in life.

In fact, it paves the way for a more enjoyable life, it opens more opportunities for joy and creates an incredible connection between us and our family and friends.

It’s not just about the endorphins released when we exercise that make us feel epic.

It’s not just about the improved health benefits.

It’s especially not just about weight management, or punishing ourselves, or trying to balance some imaginary input vs output equation.

Looking after our physical fitness gives us choices, it puts us in control of our health and our well-being, it empowers us (especially women!) and it gives us an HD experience of life.

When you’re thinking about reasons to workout, when you’re digging deep for that motivation to move, think about the joy that life has to offer.

Whether it’s being able to skip and laugh with your children, or enjoy the incredible sights from the top of a tor, or take a dip in the sea – you want to be ready right
