When half a decision is enough
Coach Sall
Thank you to everyone who replied to my email last week.
It seems putting the subject of “Resistance is Futile” was a risky strategy as it caused more unsubscribes than any other email I’ve ever sent (women who were subscribed but not yet members – perhaps they thought I would put them under some kind of spell!)
Anyway, your replies got me thinking, especially Dawn W’s (thank Dawn).
Some of you pointed out that you often come for your workout on “half a decision”, and often those are the best workouts (which reminded me that I’ve had that particular phenomenon on my list for an email or a blog post for some time now so stand by for that coming up - I digress)!
The fact is, when you come in on those days you didn’t feel like it, when you come because you feel you should, when you are only halfway to being ready – you’re always glad you did.
Coming is always better than not coming.
It feels better to workout, than go straight to the sofa (yes, even when you feel like you’re about to drop with tiredness).
There is always someone here that feels the same (truth).
And you know what? If you’re gonna end up tired and on the sofa anyway, at least you will have done a workout and got all the benefits from it 🙌
But here’s the thing I want to put out there to anyone who is reading this today – it is only those who do their workout when they don’t feel like it and on half a decision that know that.
You have to experience it to believe it and going to the gym on half a decision is a vital part of building the habit of exercise.
Because while making that decision makes it easy, sometimes making the decision is the hard part!
And if you wait to FEEL like coming, you’re doing it the wrong way around.
Don’t wait to feel like it… as Dawn said, “Being not ready for the workout is OK, it’s always ready for you which is the key!”
