What fitness and Christmas have in common

Coach Sall

I realised the other day that Fitness and Christmas have something in common… they both trigger perfectionism, and you know what we say about perfectionism!

Not only is perfectionism the enemy of good, with Fitness and Christmas alike perfectionism is misplaced because these two things are probably the hardest things to control (and to achieve perfectionism, you need total control).

At Christmas and with our our workout routines and results we often find ourselves trying to do everything perfectly instead of just what will make a difference.

So here is my new proposal for both fitness and Christmas…

A moderate amount of effort will make your Fitness AND your Christmas better than most and probably better than before. Instead of trying to do everything, do what you can with what you have. Instead of thinking about perfect, think about what is good and even more importantly, what is good for you.

So, when you are striving for perfection, when you are about to abandon a week of workouts (or just the next one) because you missed Monday or you’re thinking I’ll start again after Christmas, just stop. What could you achieve with just a moderate effort right now?

Because if f you can focus that moderate amount of effort on the things that make a difference to you, and then apply it consistently, you will find yourself making perfect progress!
