Focus on what could be…

Coach Dannii

One thing that often hinders our progress is dwelling on the past. Thinking and focusing on what was instead of focussing on what can be, what could be and what next?

Where health and fitness are concerned, focussing on what used to be can really hinder current and future progress.

Why? Because you don’t always take into account what has changed, what is different.

It’s true as we get older our physiology changes. It’s inevitable. So being caught up with what you could do or how you looked or what worked for you at the age of 20 isn’t going to help you now. Not only has your physiology changed, but most likely where you are in your life has changed. Maybe there are children. Maybe you are working more hours than you were back then. Maybe your occupation has changed entirely from active to more sedentary.

All these factors must be accounted for, which is why comparing you now to the past isn’t going to help you go forward. You could end up beating yourself up over why you’re not ‘how you used to be’ and feeling unhappy about it.

Stop it!

You can achieve so much if you focus on the now and what you can do or could possibly do! Keep working on the future and not what was.

There are wonderful and beautiful things ahead of you. Dream a dream, set the goals and go for it!
