You can be a friend, make a friend or bring a friend

On Sunday it’s International Day of Friendship.

A day to take a moment to reflect on the value of your friendships and all that they bring to our lives.

Friendship is the very foundation on which all Curves are built.

We have our circuit, with our equipment laid out in a circle and our Coach in the middle, meaning it is a very sociable way to workout.

You can feel the benefit of connection with others even you are the most introvert, shy or simply not feeling social.

There’s a buzz of shared motivation and energy all around you that instantly makes you feel a part of what’s going on.

Nearly all our members have come through our door because they know someone who already comes.

So many women have had bad experiences of gyms or exercise, that coming in for the first time can be a huge step.

It’s good to have already heard about what it’s like to be a member and, even if you don’t come because you know someone, you usually find you do know a member or two once you are here, or at least, it will feel like it very quickly!

Working out with a friend is a great way to increase your motivation and accountability. If you make plans to work out with a friend, you are more likely to follow through.

You don’t even necessarily have to come for your workouts together. Sometimes all it takes is that message that says, “I’ve been, have you?” or “I’m going today, what about you?”

Having someone who is following the same path as you means your small achievements mean so much more, and someone who knows what it took to achieve them will always celebrate them with you, no matter how small they seem, because they “get it”.

A shared goal is something that unites us at Curves. We’re all working towards being fitter, stronger, healthier and happier women. Whatever that means to us.

Our commitment to that shared goal is something that gets constantly reinforced every time you walk in the door, and it’s something that you take into your daily life.

At Curves you can be a friend, make a friend or bring a friend, in fact, you can do all three easily.

So, this year, on Saturday 29th July we’re opening our circuit to you, and any friend you would like to bring*.

It’s not just about your friends, it’s about all the women you encounter every day, and it’s about the women they know, and the ones those women know.

The more women we reach the more we can help them take control of their own health, break out of diet culture and become the Strong women they were always meant to be.

*If you would like to bring a woman you know on Saturday, just let us know what time you would like to come, and we’ll save you a slot and allocate you a Coach.

You don’t have to be a member to come along on this day, just let us know so we can be your friend for the morning!
